Beyond Radical Self-Care: Co-Care & Strategies for Resilience
In this staff workshop at a community health clinic, Lucinda provided somatic tools for co-regulation, applied mindfulness tools for working within justice spaces, and offered participants practices to support their own self-regulation. Lucinda presented a model of collective care and processes for co-care, mapping, boundaries and discernment.
Resistance, Resilience & Nourishment: Dismantling White Supremacy Through Radical Self-Care
In this 8-week community offering, Lucinda and co-creator Dr. Angela Coffee used a trauma-informed framework, invitational language and processes, and a somatic-based model for self- and co-regulation to support other white-identified people in addressing anti-blackness, inherent racism and white fragility. They used body-based practices, creation, play, readings and discussions, mindfulness tools, and reflection to create support and a collective environment to foster embodied change.
Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Communities
Lucinda offered this community workshop several times in collaboration with an artist and a yoga nidra teacher. Participants were invited to explore somatic practices including yoga postures and breathing, mindfulness practices, journaling, and ancestral connection through writing and meditation.
Yoga & Writing: Delving Into Practice
Lucinda partnered with writer Naomi Cohn to support writers in developing capacity to work with what comes up in their bodies during the writing process. Lucinda and Naomi presented mindfulness tools, embodiment practices, yoga postures and breathing practices to support writers. Additionally, coming from the lenses of queerness and disability, Naomi and Lucinda offered practices of radical rest as spaces for deepening creativity and connection to self and to writing projects.
Big Happy Bodies: Fat Embodiment and Our Sexual Selves
Lucinda and co-creator Andy Kuhlmann partnered to present this session at CatalystCon in Chicago, IL. Both Andy and Lucinda have experience in plus-size and super-fat bodies and created this workshop within a queered framework. Drawing on Lucinda’s extensive experience in the embodiment, yoga and somatic fields, Andy’s experience as a long-time sex educator, and both of their experiences as queer, nonbinary people, this workshop centered pleasure, body positivity and connection while liberating participant’s mindsets from deficit-based thinking around what is possible sexually when one or all sexual partners are people living in fat bodies.
Radical Self-Care Strategies
Lucinda presented versions of this workshop at conferences including the Shift MN LGBTQ+ health fair and at workplaces across the metro area. Practices were offered to attendees using invitational language, a trauma-informed framework, and a focus on resource-building. Lucinda centered social justice and dismantling systems of harm as motivational forces for practing self care.
